概要: 造血幹細胞とは

造血幹細胞 (hematopoietic stem cell; HSC) とは、血球系の細胞に分化することが可能な幹細胞のことである。

よく似た単語に hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) というのがあり、両者の違いをネットで探してみたのだが、簡単には出てこなかった。Reference 1 の以下の表現から推察するに、HSC は幹細胞、そこから少し特定の血球細胞に comit したものを progenitor cell と言い、それらをまとめたものが HSPC なのではないかと思われる。

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) sit at the apex of a differentiation hierarchy that produces the full spectrum of mature blood cells via intermediate progenitor stages. For almost 3 decades, researchers have developed protocols for the prospective isolation of increasingly refined hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) populations, reaching purities of more than 50% for long-term repopulating HSCs.



血球細胞の分化""

この図に前駆細胞という細胞が書かれており、これが progenitor cells ということなのだろう。
